Paul Fitzgerald is the CEO of Fatherheart Ministries. Paul has always had a heart to live in deep and meaningful relationships with others. This burden for community led him on a forty year journey in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors focusing on leadership development and building authentic community. But until 2008, there was always something missing.
In 1986 Paul left the US Air Force where he taught leadership and management to follow his heart to strategically and intentionally share the love of God in the public school system as a classroom teacher and administrator while serving as a missionary with Youth for Christ Ministries.
In 1996 Paul co-founded Tentmakers Missionary Fellowship from a heart to encourage, support, and equip Christian missionaries and ministries through synergistic marketplace and community alliances. These adventures were highlighted in the first edition of 'Great Commission Companies' by Dr. Steven Rundle of BIOLA University. Modeling business as mission, Paul generated funds (primarily from developing affordable housing) to pioneer a significant five-year outreach and community building model in China.
As the Vice President for International Faculty at major university in China, Paul recruited, selected, trained, and built community for one-hundred foreign faculty to teach English as a second language while simply sharing God's love in a commmunity-based environment. It was there, in China, that a life-time of driveness culminated in the tradgey of a broken marriage and burnout. In this valley, Paul met Jesus in a much deeper way and experienced what it meant to heal the brokenhearted. It was in this movement, Jesus brough him to Father who restored Paul's heart as a son. The missing piece was found. This movement from an orphaned heart to a heart of sonship also led many others in their community into the same deep personal healing and experience of meeting God as Father.
For Paul, this revelation and experience of Father's love has unified and coalesced a lifetime of experiences into a simple yet profound understanding of what it means to walk as a son in the home, in the marketplace, and in community. Paul, along with his wife Veronica, are on a new adventure bringing this revelation of healing, hearing God’s voice, and receiving Father’s love to the nations. Paul received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia; a Master of Public Administration in Governance (and completed the coursework for a Ph.D. in Public Administration) from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. Paul has six children from ages 3 to 32. He and Veronica currently call Panama home, where Veronica works with the United Nations.
